Jose Mourinho left it out there for all to see just how much victory means to him, after he ran wild on Sunday following AS Roma’s last minute goal.
Roman had taken the lead through Cristante in the 37th minute before Sassuolo equalised through Duricic 20 minutes later.
From there on, it was from one missed chance to another stellar defensive showing as both sides tried to get the win on the night Mourinho was marking his 1000th game as manager.
The Portuguese went hysterical at the Stadio Olympico when Faraone scored the winner in the 91st minute.
In a video courtesy of AS Roma, he ran from the coach’s box to meet his players at the other side of the stadium to join in the celebrations. This wasn’t the first time the former Porto, Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea coach did such a sprint. He has always been one for such elaborate celebrations.
Mourinho has now racked up 1000 games in management, winning an incredible 639 of them and with 25 trophies to his name.
Speaking after the game, Mourinho said: “I told everyone lies! I had been saying to the team for days that this 1000th game was not important to me… but I had an incredible fear of losing!
“Luckily we won and I was running like a child today because I was feeling 12 years old, not 58.”
