The Super Eagles continued their winning start to the 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup as they brushed aside Cape Verde in what was a scrapy victory.
Gernot Rohr’s men left out many of the well known stars who beat Liberia in Lagos last week.
Osimhen who failed to score in the last game started in attack alongside Ahmed Musa who made his 100th appearance for the Super Eagles.
Cape Verde opened the scoring through Tavares on the 19th minute, after he turned in a fine long ball into the Nigerian near post.
Napoli’s Osimhen drew Nigeria level ten minutes later after a defensive slip-up. The game was settled in the 76th minute when Kenny Santos drove a back pass into his own net with stopper Vozinha stranded.
Not the most impressive display we’ve seen from Nigeria but Gernot Rohr won’t mind with the Super Eagles securing the all important three points which helps the West African side in their quest to advance to the final stage of the qualifying process in securing the all important ticket to the Qatar World Cup.
They now have six points from two games.
