Corps Public Education Officer, Bisi Kazeem made this known today, as he cited a 2012 regulation that gives the FRSC the authority to prosecute offenders.

Mr. Kazeem added that the Corps prohibits the use of earpiece or headphones also, as that has the potential of being a distraction too.

“Driving entails 100 per cent concentration, so you cannot be distracted. It is there in the regulation.

Mr. Bisi Kazeem.

“It is clear from the provisions of Reg 166 (1) that it is illegal to make phone calls using EarPods earphones or whatever means,” he said.

“The law may not make it an offence, but at the same time, it can distract you. Even changing your cassette (while driving) can distract you and result in accidents,” he told the news outlet.
