Former Chelsea wingman, Willian has opted to join Corinthians following his termination of his Arsenal contract.
The Brazilian still has two years left on his contract and instead of asking for a pay off or for compensation for his £240, 000/week salary, he tore up his contract.
His gesture left the authorities at the Emirates stunned but they later released a statement of gratitude for his services.
“Following positive and constructive recent discussions with him and his team, he will be leaving for a new opportunity with Corinthians in Brazil, where he began his career,” the club said in a statement.
“Everyone at Arsenal wishes Willian and his family well for the future.”
Not only is the 33-year-old saving Arsenal £20.5m, he is also set to take a 70 per cent pay cut to return to his former club.
