Following a chaotic withdrawal of troops and evacuation of US military personnels and Afghan refugees in recent days in order to beat the 31st August, 2021 troops withdrawal dateline, US military has officially brought to a close US military mission in Afghanistan a day earlier, ending a 20 year bloody invasion and occupation of the wartorn nation.
The US Department of Defence has tweeted an image of the last soldier to be evacuated and airlifted out of Afghanistan on the 30th of August, 2021. Thereby symbolically ending the country’s participation in the 20 year bloody war.
Maj. Gen. Chris Donahue, the 52 year old commanding general of 82nd ABN Division and 18 Airborne Corps is seen in a grainy-greenish image released by the US Department of Defence boarding the last US Air force C-17 out of Afghanistan.
