A 33-year-old man has been arrested in Ogun State for allegedly raping a 27-year-old.
The victim told the Sakora Divisional Headquarters in Sagamu that the suspect had accused her of not greeting him. And as she tried explaining that she didn’t see him, he pounced on her, beat her, dragged her to his backyard, where he tore her clothes and raped her.
According to Police spokesman, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the police immediately went after the suspect and nabbed him on Saturday.
“Upon the report, the Divisional Police Officer, Sakora Division, CSP Rowland Dahunsi, detailed his detectives to follow the victim who was accompanied to the station by her father, to the scene.
He said the suspect blamed his inordinate actions on alcoholic influence.
“The suspect who was identified by the victim was promptly arrested with the assistance of the people around. During interrogation, the suspect confessed to the crime, but claimed to be under the influence of alcohol at the time.’’ he stated.
Opeyemi added that the suspect has been transferred to the State for prosecution, while the victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.
