DSS Opens Fire at Saudi Government’s Recruitment Exercise for Doctors in Abuja

At least one person was injured at the Saudi Government’s recruitment exercise held at Sheraton Hotels in Abuja when men of the Department of State Services opened fire on the crowd.

Switch Nigeria reported some days ago that the Saudi Arabia Government have been holding recruitment exercises in the country to employ willing Nigerian doctors seeking employment elsewhere.

The recruitment exercise was to begin by 8:00am but many doctors were at the venue as early as 5:30am.

One of the doctors, Dr. Olubanjo said in a telephone chat that the the DSS blocked the road from Abacha Estate, to keep people from accessing the venue of the exercise.

“The officers tried to block us from entering Sheraton but some of us insisted that we were on our way for an interview organised by the Saudi government,” Mr Olubanjo said.

“But we were forcibly chased away when the officers started shooting into the air to disperse us with threats that they will kill us and no one would punish them.”

The person that was injured was taken to a hospital in Mabushi for treatment.

It was gathered that after sometime, the organisers told the seekers to go home.
