A sharia court sitting in Kano has handed a 6 months coaching class in an Islamic school to a Kannywood actress for indecent social media postings.

Sadiya Haruna, also known as Sayadda Sadeya Haruna, who primarily uses her her Instagram page with little over forty thousand subscribers to advertise bleaching cream and other female beauty enhancing products is said to have offended the religious sensibilities of many Muslims in the conservative north.
In a couple of seemingly abandoned or inactive Instagram accounts, the actress is also seen without the Islamic veil or hijab, wearing trousers and dancing to secular music, acts all considered un-Islamic under Sharia law.

Sharia compliant Kano state has being in the news lately due to the activities of it’s Hisbah brigade or sharia police for instituting various prohibitions: ranging from the use of mannequins, sale of alcohol, haircuts and dressing styles.
