On Monday, a day after the Taliban’s take-over of Afghanistan, airports in the Islamic country have been filled to the brim with people trying flee.
Ashraf Ghani, the President of Afghanistan evacuated the Presidential Palace on Sunday, when he got intel that the Taliban were marching on Kabul, the capital.
According to a video released by Al Jazeera, armed men could be seen walking the halls and sitting in the chair of President Ashraf Ghani, who fled the country just hours earlier.
Meanwhile, commercial flights at Hamid Karzai International Airport have stopped. Footage filmed there showed scenes of chaos and desperation as people scrambled to get onto planes.
US military have established a perimeter at Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, guarding at least a portion of the sprawling complex.
