The Northern Caucus in the House of Representatives have been commended by the Deputy Speaker, Idris Wase for their hand in ensuring the Petroleum Industry Bill and the Electoral Act recently revised by the House of Representatives promoted the ‘Northern Agenda.’
Wase who hails from Plateau released this message through his Chief of Staff, Aminu Malle on their WhatsApp group.
In the message that was leaked to The Punch, the Deputy Speaker commended the Northern members for uniting to push forward the North’s quest for oil. In the recently amended bill, the North received a huge boost as Section 9 of the bill states that at least 30% of the profit generated by the proposed Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited will go to the exploration of oil in ‘frontier basins,’ which are mostly northern states.

It can also be recalled that, 53 APC Senators had voted against electronic transmission of election results last week, most of whom are Northerners.
The message reads, “On behalf of the Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Ahmed Idris Wase and the Northern Caucus leader Hon. Musa Sarki Adar, I am directed to write and formally congratulate and appreciate all the northern caucuses for standing firm through their wisdom and strength to ensure the Northern interest in both PIB and Electoral Act is adequately placed in a position of advantage.”
