An Abuja Federal High Court has acquitted former Finance Minister, Kemi Adeosun of the charges of NYSC certificate forgery that were brought against her some years ago.
It can be recalled that the former Minister would go on to resign from her ministerial position in 2018.
But on Wednesday, Justice Taiwo Taiwo ruled that the litigant or plaintiff did not need the Certificate Of Discharge to be given any political appointment. He maintained that no Nigerian law says so.
“I am of the view that denying the plaintiff of the reliefs sought is not going to be doing justice to the matter,” he said.
The case file titled FHC/ABJ/CS/303/21 was brought by Wole Olanipekun, SAN, on Adeosun’s behalf, with Abubakar Malami, the Attorney General of the Federation as the defendant.
Justice Taiwo noted that Malami or his representative failed to posit a counter argument against their earlier claims that the Federal Government, upon noticing that the litigant had no NYSC certificate, still failed to terminate her appointment until she voluntarily resigned.
