Italy booked their place in the final of this year’s Euro, after defeating Spain on penalties.
Chiesa had given Roberto Mancini’s side the lead in the 60th minute despite Spain’s dominant display.
But the Italians could only keep the lead for twenty minutes, as Spain’s hard work finally paid off. Luis Enrique threw on Alvaro Morata and the Juventus man proved to be a super sub, as he poked in the equaliser, with just ten minutes left.
The game would go into extra time and eventually a penalty shoot-out. Olmo missed for Spain after Locatelli also missed. Belotti would step up to give Italy the lead in the shoot-out but Gerard Moreno drew Spain level again. Bonucci would step up to make it 2:1. Thiago Alcantara would equalise.
The game however slipped away from the Spaniards after Morata failed to convert from the spot, after Bernardeschi put the Italians ahead. Jorginho would score the winner to send Italy to their first Euro final since 2012.
They now await the outcome of the England vs Denmark game, set to be played on Wednesday at Wembley.
