On Saturday, the people of No.1, Agbontaen street, beside Ebvareke Secondary School in Uselu witnessed an act of brutality and carnage after a 45-year-old man beat his wife to death.
It was gathered from the killer’s son, Augustine that his father had called his mum earlier in the day requesting for N2, 000. He later showed up at home shouting at the deceased, identified as Isoken, for always embarrassing her anytime he asks her for money.
Augustine noted that, his father Christopher who smokes and is always drunk beat Isoken, 39, till she became unconscious and when he tried to help her, his father sent them inside and locked them up.
“I went out to pour water on her body and later lay down outside. My father locked us inside the room and went outside to pounce on my mother where she was lying down.”
He added that concerned neighbours tried helping his mum by rushing her to near-by hospitals but she was already dead.
“That was when neighbours came and rushed her to two different hospitals, where she was both pronounced dead on arrival,” he narrated.
Christopher who is a known wife beater tried fleeing the scene but was apprehended by the local Vigilante group.
When contacted, the Police spokesman, Mr. Bello Kontongs confirmed the incident and said they were investigating it.
