The Presidency has confirmed that President Muhammadu Buhari will depart for London on Friday for his routine medical checkup.
According to the President’s aide, Mr. Femi Adesina, Buhari will be back in Nigeria in the second week of July. The President’s last trip to London came in March.
Before assuming office in 2015, Buhari told his countrymen that he would improve health care services in Nigeria to standards equal with what is obtainable elsewhere, so that citizens will stop travelling abroad for treatment.
Unlike it is done in most civilised nations, it is not clear to many Nigerians what exactly is wrong with the President that he keeps travelling for medical reasons. This has led many Nigerians to say his main work is tourism, with leading Nigeria as her President, only his side hustle.
