The Governor of Katsina State, Aminu Masari has followed his Rivers State counterpart, Nyesom Wike in criticising President Muhammadu Buhari for saying the insecurity issues facing the country should be tackled by State governors.
The President had recently said on Arise TV that he sent two governors who came to tender their complaints to him about insecurity back to go and address their issues because they were elected for such.
But Masari who is the governor in Buhari’s home State said the President should not attribute the current insecurity to the failure of State governors.
“It is the responsibility of the Federal Government to ensure protection of lives and property of citizens in all nooks and cranny of the country.”

“In the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the issue of security is under the Exclusive List so it is the responsibility of the Federal Government and states can only complement and this is what we have always done and are still doing.
“Based on provisions of the Constitution, the blame should go to the Federal Government for the general state of insecurity in Nigeria,” he said.
