The new Chief of Army Staff, Major Farouk Yahaya was on Tuesday, screened by the House of Representatives Joint Committee on Army and Defence.
Reports say Yahaya was screened behind closed doors in the national assembly chambers in Abuja.
The army chief, while speaking in an introductory remark, debunked the public insinuations which claimed that there was no collaboration between security agencies to tackle security challenges, like terrorism, especially since the coming on board of the new service chiefs.
He appealed to Nigerians to support the military in order to tackle the security challenges bedevilling the country.
SWITCH NIGERIA recalls that Yahaya was appointed the new army chief on May 27, 2021 by President Muhammadu Buhari.
His appointment followed the death of the former army chief, Attahiru Ibrahim, who died in an plane crash in Kaduna alongside 10 military officers same May.
Yahaya, until his appointment, was the General Officer Commaanding 1 Division of the Nigerian Army and the incumbent Theatre Commander of the Counterterrorism, Counter-Insurgency military outfit in the North East code-named Operation Hadin Kai.
