A total of 65 suspected internet fraudsters, also known as “Yahoo Yahoo Boys,” have been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Spokesman of the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren disclosed this in separate statements issued on Tuesday.
Uwujaren said 50 of the suspects were arrested by the Ibadan zonal office of the commission at Alaro Sango, Agbaje Ijokoro and Apete Aladura areas of Ibadan, Oyo State.
According to him, 9 of the suspects were arrested at Gwagwalada new layout area of Abuja, FCT, on the heels of credible intelligence on their nefarious activities.
He added that the remaining 6 suspects were picked up by operatives of the Enugu zonal office of the commission during a sting operation at the Independence Layout area of Enugu State on Saturday, June 5th.
He revealed that items recovered from the suspects include SUVs, Lexus Jeeps, Venza vehicles, laptops and substance suspected to be Indian hemp.
The suspects, he also noted, will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.
