Students of D. S. Adegbenro Polytechnic, Itori, Ogun State, numbering hundreds blocked the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway to show solidarity with their mates who couldn’t write the exams.
But it was not just the highway that was besieged, the school gate and other entrances and exits from the institution were also blocked, thereby making it impossible for staff to access the school.
The protest on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway caused alot of traffic, much to the pain of motorists and their passengers.
It was gathered that on Tuesday, the school authorities prohibited some students from writing exams for not meeting up with the mandatory 75% lecture attendance standard as set by the school.
Yinka Adegbite, the Institution’s PRO also confirmed the incident and added that the school authorities are doing their best to resolve the issue.
In the mean time, the school has officially suspended the semesterial exams until the situation can be addressed.
The students also clashed with some police officers even though the protest started out peacefully.
