Some unknown gunmen have abducted the Nasarawa State House of Assembly Member representing Nasarawa Central State Constituency, Ismail Danbaba.
Details of the incident are still sketchy, but in a telephone chat, the Chairman House Committee on Information in the State Assembly, Hon. Mohammed Omadefu, confirmed the abduction.
He noted that Danbaba was kidnapped on Saturday evening, while travelling to Plateau State to represent Nasarawa State legislators in a workshop.
He added that he was captured in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna.
“He was traveling and had already passed Andaha in Akwanga Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, heading to the forest area in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State when the kidnappers ambushed him and took him away,” he said.
Ramhan Nahel, the Nasarawa State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident but declined to make further comments because the abduction was not in Nasarawa where he has jurisdiction.
Omadefu who represents Keana State Constituency noted that the kidnappers have contacted the State Assembly but are yet to make demands.
