Ministry of Aviation Supervises 1st Made-in-Nigeria Helicopter, to be Inaugurated before 2023

Nigeria’s Aviation Ministry has begun testing of a locally made helicopter as part of plans to incorporate the project into the Ministry’s fleet of choppers.Officials of the Ministry have gone on supervisory visits to the site of production in Abuja, where National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) Solar Energy Limited, the project company, are developing it.According to the Assistant Chief Information Officer, NASENI, Chinyere Ekwuazi, the Federal Government plans on inaugurating the helicopter before this administration bows out of office in two years time.Speaking of funding, the Executive Vice Chairman of NASENI, Maiwalima Haruna told newsmen that the company is willing to accept support and suggestions from the Federal Ministry of Aviation to ensure the smooth completion of the project.
Haruna was quoted as saying, “We have expertise for developing the helicopter and we do things according to laid-down rules. We are ready to work with you to achieve this project.”NASENI are attempting this feat with help from a Belgian firm called Dynali Helicopter Company, Thins, who are tasked with training personnel for NASENI and also develop the helicopter.History of NASENI
The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) was established in 1992 by The Nigerian Federal Government of the recommendations of the White Paper Committee on the 1991 Report of a 150-member National Committee on Engineering Infrastructure comprising scientists, engineers, administrators, federal and state civil servants, economists, lawyers, bankers and industrialists.
