Abducted Customs Officer Regains Freedom

A Chief Superintendent of Customs, Mba Ukweni Edu who was recently kidnapped has been set free by his captors.

Mr. Mba got freed around 3pm on Monday, after spending weeks in the shadows of the hoodlums, since he was captured at sea in Etono/Ugben River, Cross River State.

According to the victims brother, Mba Ekpezu Ukweni, his uncle was immediately rushed to the hospital for proper assessment to ascertain if he was fine.

Kidnapping has become a lucrative business in Nigeria.

He said that the Kidnappers had demanded for N100m ransom.

“He is doing well but the trauma was too much. His clothes became blood stained rags. An undisclosed amount was paid as ransom before he was released.”

“The kidnappers also demanded and got 50 litres of fuel, 4 litres of tonimas engine oil and bottles of hot drinks, including American honey sting and Lords Dry Gin,” he stated.
