EFCC Arrests Female Internet Fraud Suspect

A suspected female fraudster, Queen Jonathan has been arrested by operatives of the Benin zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Jonathan, 24 was arrested on Friday March 26, 2021 in Oghara, Delta State, according to a statement issued on Tuesday by Spokesman of the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren.

Uwujaren said the suspect is alleged to be involved in Bitcoin Scam.

He said, “She presented herself as one Sophia Rodriguez, an expert in Bitcoin, on Instagram, to defraud unsuspecting victims.

“Items recovered from her include an Infinix Hot 8 mobile phone.”

The efcc spokesman further said that the suspect has made useful statement and will be arraigned in court as soon as investigation is completed.

Cases of women involvement in internet scam is rare in the country.

SWITCH NIGERIA recalls that there is hardly any day that that goes by that  the anti-graft agency does not make arrest of suspected internet fraudsters or arraigning them in court.

In all of these, women are hardly among them.
