The Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) has said that contrary to reports making the rounds in the media, the Commission never appointed King Tonto Dikeh an Ambassador of Peace.
The Commission made the disclaimer on Friday, in a statement by its Head Media and Public Relations, Celestine Toruka.
It said the Nigerian actress only paid an official visit on the Executive Secretary of NCPC, Rev Yakubu Pam, to commend him for the wonderful job he is doing and to also express her willingness and interest in partnering with the Commission in the area of peace building.
It added further that while the NCPC appreciates Tonto Dikeh for her desire to partner with the Commission in peace building initiatives as well as sponsorship of Nigerians to the Holy Land, it is however saddened by the claims from King Tonto Dikeh herself that she has been officially appointed as Ambassador of peace by this great Commission.
“The Commission frowns at this claim which is a clear misrepresentation of what transpired. The fact remains that the Executive Secretary of NCPC never appointed King Tonto Dikeh an Ambassador of Peace for NCPC and this was not part of her visit therefore this claim by her is spurious, unfounded and should be discarded and seen by all Nigerians as a figment of her imagination,” part of the statement explained.
