US House of Reps. Impeaches Trump for the Second Time, 7-Days to Handover

The United States House of Representatives have voted massively to impeach President Donald Trump.

This is the second time Trump will be impeached, and has become the first United States President to be impeached twice.

The House took the decision after the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, activated the 25th Amendment, following what has now come to be seen as a deliberate plan by Trump to overturn the elections and also playing a role in the January 6th uprising at the Capitol.

On Tuesday, Vice President Mike Pence, who himself fell out with his principal, wrote Pelosi, requesting her not to go on with the House’s impeachment plans.

However, Trump will probably see out the remaining days of his tenure, since the Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell ,who also happens to be in support of the impeachment, is unwilling to call for resumption of the Senate, before the recess is over.

Trump still has seven days to stay in office if all things remain equal, even with the House of Representatives’s vote today, because according to the constitution of the US, it takes a Senate conviction to remove him.
