Manchester United advanced to the 4th Round of the FA Cup after beating Watford, thanks to Scott McTominay’s early goal.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer named a much changed side from the one that were beaten in the League Cup semifinal by local rivals, Manchester City. Eric Bailly returned to the side, after fans complained bitterly about the decision to leave him on the bench last time out.
However, the Ivorian only lasted 45 minutes, after he picked up a head injury and was replaced by Harry Maguire. Spaniard, Juan Mata and Dutchman, Donny Van De Beek, also made the matchday squad.
Manchester United’s youngster, Scott McTominay who was the captain on the night, gave the home side the lead in the 5th minute, after he headed Alex Telles’s outswinging corner into the far corner. After that, both sides had ample chances in the final third, but were not clinical enough to bury them. 1:0 it ended at Old Trafford!
