Arsenal took on Newcastle United at the Emirates in one of the all-Premier-League games, but it was going to be a long night for the players and for those watching, as the game dragged into extra time.
Both sides had their fair amount of chances, even as the home side dominated proceedings, but failed to convert them. Andy Carroll missed a sitter for Newcastle, when he only had Bernd Leno to beat.
It wasn’t until the 109th minute that a beautifully lobbed ball by Bukayo Saka found substitute, Lacazette’s head, who parried it to the on-rushing Emile Smith Rowe, with the youngster burying it into the far bottom post, beyond the reach of Dubravka.
8 minutes later, out of form Arsenal captain, Aubameyang got his name on the scoresheet, after he tapped in, from close range, a beautiful Kieran Tierney cross to make it 2:0.
Newcastle United had themselves to blame after they blew several good chances to win the game in normal time.
