A Nigerian, Alif Oluwasun Ibrahim, was on Saturday night nabbed by men of the Adyar District Police in Thiruvanmiyur, India, for possessing 55 kilograms of cocaine.
According to local media reports, the 46-year-old who was caught while trying to board a train for Puducherry district, where he intended to sell it, was nabbed after the police got a tip-off about him.
It was gathered that Mr. Alif usually obtained the forbidden substance from Pune, before travelling to Chennai by bus to sell it for about N31, 000- N50, 000 (that is RS 6, 000-10, 000, in Indian currency).
The distance between Pune, which is a developed area in Maharashtra is a 21-hour journey by bus to Chennai City.
“He does not stay in Chennai, but delivers to those who place orders over the phone, and returns to Nigeria by flight,” said inspector Ramasundaram.
