Due to the new and more infectious strain of COVID-19 the United Kingdom announced it discovered, the People’s Republic of China, on Thursday, suspended flights to and from the UK.
Although the COVID-19 originated in China earlier this year, the East Asian nation has since managed to contain the pandemic within its borders.
To prevent another spread, a spokesman of the country’s Foreign Affairs Ministry, Wang Wenbin said at a routine briefing “Given the exceptional nature of the virus mutation and its potential impact… China has suspended flights between China and the UK after a full assessment.”
China is not the only nation to halt flights headed to and from Britain. Ireland, Germany, Canada, Netherlands, Belgium and Italy also did so earlier this week.
