The Governor of Kogi State, Mr. Yahaya Bello feels the Federal Government should prioritize recovery of the economy that has been badly affected due to the COVID-19 pandemic, than the importation of vaccines.
According to reports by the Punch, about N540 billion is to be disbursed by the Nigerian Government for the purchase of over 200 million vaccines.
Bello who said this on Wednesday added that, “All these brouhaha coming up about Covid-19 and vaccines, I don’t think we deserve it now. We have a struggling economy that Mr President inherited, recession, low income, left, right, and centre and Mr. President is doing his best to pull out of the woods.”
The Kogi State Government also said that it would be harmful to the economy if another lockdown is imposed on the nation.
“Those of us charged with the responsibility of advising Mr. President should do that with utmost fear of God Almighty.”
Bello also bit into the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 for adopting foreign measures in dealing with the pandemic in Nigeria, noting that, “You can’t do cut and paste on issues like this.”
