Kankara Boys: Boko Haram Releases Video of Abducted School Children

Boko Haram insurgents have released a video showing hundreds of boys it kidnapped from their school in Kankara, Katsina State.

The boys are seen in the video relaying demands of the terrorist group, asking for vigilante groups to be dissolved as well as all schools “excluding Islamiyyah” closed.

The video below which Switch Nigeria obtained from the Punch newspaper, believed to have been released by the terrorist group, shows the boys looking dirty and sandy, kept in the bush.

Some are weeping, some are visibly distraught, and speaking in tear-broken voice.

“You have to dissolve any gang of vigilantes and close any kind of schools, excluding Islamiyyah”, one of the boys who spoke to the camera said.

Islamiyyah is a religious education model in which students are taught Islamic text in Arabic, is very popular throughout Northern Nigeria.
