The governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong has tested positive for COVID-19.
This followed the outcome of the COVID-19 test he and members of his family carried out.
A statement released by the governor’s Director of Press & Public Affairs, Makut Simon Macham, indicated that only the governor’s returned positive while that of all the members of his family returned negative.
The statement stated further that, the governor who is asymptomatic has gone into isolation while his close aides are being tested.
“As a result, the Governor will henceforth work from home during the period of treatment.
“All State matters requiring the Governor’s physical presence will be handled by the Deputy Governor.”
The governor advised residents of the state to apply all COVID-19 precautionary measures such as avoiding large gatherings, use of facemasks, washing hands with soap and water, especially during the festive period, saying the pandemic is still prevalent.
