Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has said the empowerment materials provided by the Senator representing Borno Central, Kashim Shettima, remains the largest since he assumed office in 2019.
Zulum stated this on Monday during a launch of the distribution of kits and cash to trainees at the Government House in Maiduguri.
About 1,000 women and youths across Borno Central have been empowered with start-up kits and N25,000 cash after an extensive skill acquisition programme which was facilitated by Shettima, who is a former governor of the state.
The event, from training to the presentation of kits, was coordinated by Mrs Nana Shettima, former first lady and wife of the senator.
The governor said, “It is my singular honour and privilege to witness the presentation of kits and cash to 1,000 beneficiaries sponsored by Sen. Kashim Shettima.”
“This is so far the largest empowerment programme benefited by the people of Borno State. This empowerment, if well utilized, will, insha Allah, provide livelihood to our internally displaced persons in the state.”
The governor urged the beneficiaries to judiciously utilise the materials provided to them by the senator.
Speaking earlier, Senator Shetima expressed appreciation to the governor for attending the occasion.
Other speakers include the wife of Borno State Governor, Dr Falmata Zulum and the state caretaker party Chairman, Ali Bukar Dalori.
