On Thursday, the Edo State Government dissolved all the sport committees who were to be in charge of the National Sports Festival (NSF), which has now been postponed indefinitely.
The announcement was made on Wednesday, through a communique signed and released by the Secretary of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) of the NSF, Dr. Emmanuel Igbinosa.
The indefinite postponement is now the third time that this edition of the NSG will be postponed. It was initially scheduled to hold between March 22- April 1, before the COVID-19 pandemic set in.
It was again rescheduled for January 3rd- January 18th, 2021, until the Federal again shifted it indefinitely, citing the negative effects of the pandemic on the nation.
According to the letter that was released to journalists on Thursday, since Edo State were to host the now postponed sporting event, the State decided to dissolve all relevant committees until further notice.
A terse letter issued to dissolve the Sub-Committees stated that “I am directed by the Deputy Governor who doubles as the LOC Chairman for the festival, to inform you of the dissolution of all committees with immediate effect.”
