Benue State Government Constitutes ICT Advisory Council, Calls for Collaboration

The Benue State government has approved the constitution of Information and Communication Technology, ICT Council in the state.

The approval was given on Monday by the State Executive Council, during its meeting held at the Benue Peoples House Makurdi and presided over by Governor Samuel Ortom.

Briefing newsmen shortly after the meeting, Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Mrs. Ngunan Addingi said the 13 member council serves as advisory body to government on all state ICT related matters and to design a roadmap for the development of ICT in Benue.

Its duties also include collaboration with Federal Ministry of Communications and digital economy, relevant agencies and departments and non governmental organisations to attract investments in ICT in the State.

Mrs. Addingi also said Exco had approved the purchase of tables and chairs by the State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB for distribution to UBEC schools across the State through direct purchase.

The Commissioner said Exco equally resolved to carry out vaccination in Ogbadibo local government area and its environs against a disease diagnosed to be yellow fever that had already claimed lives.

According to Mrs. Addingi, the vaccination is necessary to eradicate the ailment, saying Exco appealed to people of the area to come out for the excercise

Mrs. Addingi told Journalists that Exco also ratified the report submitted by the steering committee for the execution of the forthcoming Benue Youth Summit scheduled to hold between 25th and 27th November 2020.
