The troops of the Operation SAHEL SANITY, of the Armed Forces of Nigeria, have intensified their onslaught against notorious bandits in the North West region of the country, and in two separate encounters on the 11th and 12th November, rescued two abducted adolescent girls, neutralising one bandit while inflicting various degrees of injuries on several bandits who are still being chased in the bush by adamant soldiers.
Yesterday, the 12th of November 2020, troops of Operation SAHEL SANITY while on routine patrol along the outskirts of Dajin Wuta forest, encountered bandits who were moving on motorcycles. Terrified, the bandits engaged the troops with gunshots while they withdrew into the forest. The troops gave them a chase and was able to neutralise one of the bandits while several ran away with serious bleeding.
An AK 47 with 27 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition were recovered from the decimated bandit.
Earlier on Wednesday 11th November 2020, troops at Angwan Doka rescued two teenage girls at a village called Munhaye, during a clearance operation. The victims stated that they were kidnapped from Dan Aji in Faskari Local Government Area of the State of Katsina. They said that their abductors abandoned them and ran off when they sighted the troops in the area.
Brigadier General Benard Onyeuko, Acting Director, Media Operations of the Defence Headquarters, encouraged the people of the North West to cooperate with the troops in their domain to help the military conduct their operations effectively.
