The honourable Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, has said there is a possibility that hoodlums were responsible for the October 20 shooting of unarmed protesters at the Lekki toll gate in Lagos.
Recall that about two weeks ago, #EndSARS protests rocked different cities of the federation, with the protesters insisting that the federal government disband the Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS).
The Protesters had converged at the Lekki toll gate as usual on Tuesday October 20th, but the day turned out bloody as military men invaded the place, shooting at them, leading to the death and injury of many.
The Army initially denied sending soldiers to the Lekki Toll Plaza but days later, stated that their presence was requested by the Lagos State Government to restore normalcy.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja, the Attorney General of the federation, Abubakar Malami, said although investigation is underway to ascertain what truly happened in Lekki, there is still a possibility that hoodlums hoodlums were behind the shooting.
“You cannot rule out the possibility of perhaps hoodlums that set in to create a scene… could equally partake in the process,” Malami explained.
