Former President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday, said there were many reasons to be thankful to God.
Jonathan, who stated this on his official facebook page, said despite the challenges and struggles 2020 brought to the nation and individuals, there was the need to remain thankful to God.
The former president spoke when he joined other parishioners at the Church of Nativity Ikoyi, Diocese of Lagos, Anglican Communion, for their 2020 adult harvest thanksgiving.
The ex Nigerian leader was obviously referring to the outbreak of the deadly Coronavirus (COVID-19), which hit the world with devastating consequences.
The virus brought with it, terrible consequences, which included shutting down of the world’s biggest economies, loss of jobs and millions of deaths.
In Nigeria, the recent #Endsars protest across the country, had a negative impact on the country.
There was massive destruction of lives, public and private property, particularly in Lagos, Abuja and some states of the federation.
Jonathan said, “2020 has been a year of many challenges and struggles as individuals and as a nation, yet in the midst of all these, there are many reasons to thank God.
“Today, I was at the Church of Nativity Ikoyi, Diocese of Lagos, Anglican Communion, where I joined parishioners for their 2020 adult harvest thanksgiving.”
