A band of South Eastern leaders have promised to do everything within their power to ensure there is no further bloodshed in the region in the name of #EndSARS protests.
The band, made up of the leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, National Assembly Members and the five Governors from the region, said this after a meeting held in Enugu on Thursday.

The leaders charged residents in the region to feel free going about their businesses, as there would be maximum security to ensure safety of lives.
Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi, who heads the SouthEast Governors Forum (SEGF), said in a statement: “We sympathise with families of the victims, including the police and other security agencies, of the recent disturbances that followed the #EndSARS agitations.”

“The South East will engage our youths to ensure sustainable peace in the South East and a glorious future for our children. We, therefore, direct all Igbo, both in and outside Nigeria, to go about their businesses and not participate in any form of unlawful protest and criminality.”
The statement also said: “We offer to protect all ethnic groups living in the South East and thank other parts of Nigeria for protecting our people in their areas.”
