Manchester City has announced the passing of their former academy player, Jeremy Wisten.
Wisten, 18, committed suicide after he went into depression after being released by City. Although the official statement from Manchester City is that the cause of death is still unknown.
The teenager was born in Malawi but was raised in the UK and later joined the Manchester City prestigious football academy in 2016, where he trained as a defender, and was only recently released by City.
The Club posted the notice of his demise on Twitter on Sunday night, saying: “The Manchester City family are saddened to learn of the passing of former Academy player Jeremy Wisten. We send our deepest condolences to his friends and family. Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time.”
Some senior players like Raheem Sterling and defender, Aymeric Laporte, also took to social media to express their pain at the teenager’s passing.
