Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State on Sunday, said that schools in the state will continue to remain shut as a result of the violent protest in the #Endsars campaign witnessed in the state.
Akeredolu noted that normalcy ought to return before pupils and students resume academic activities.
He stated this during a press briefing on Sunday.
Schools were billed to resume on October 19, having been shut since the outbreak of COVID-19 in March.
According to him, schools will shut following the social unrest of #EndSARS protests witnessed in the state and other parts of the country.
The governor maintained that the move was made in the overall interest of the students.
He said: “Already, our children are billed to return to school after the disruption occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic. Having assessed the situation in the last few days, we are convinced beyond a reasonable doubt that our children must still remain at home for the time being.”
