A former Governor of Lagos State, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has denied news making the rounds that he left the country for France amidst the Tuesday’s shooting of #ENDSARS protesters at the Lekki Toll gate.
Tinubu denied the reports on Saturday, when he visited the Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Recall that there have been several reports of his jetting out to Paris, France while other reports had it that he travelled to London after the Tuesday’s incident.
But in a video shared on twitter by the handle @APC Nigeria Support, the national Leader of the APC described stories about his alleged travel as fake news.
“I didn’t go nowhere. I still hold the title of Asiwaju of Lagos and I am still the Jagaban of Lagos.
“Well whatever they think, fake news is all over the place. They said Seyi my son was kidnapped. He is here, look at him,” he added,” he said.
His alleged link with the Lekki shooting had made him a target of attacks, with the headquarters of Television Continental (TVC) and the Nation Newspapers, burnt down by armed hoodlums in what appeared to be coordinated attacks on his business interests.
Already, the former governor had in a live interview on Channels Television, condemned the Tuesday night’s shooting at Lekki toll gate, saying he can never be part of any carnage.
He had also clarified that he was not the owner of the Lekki Concession Company (LCC), the firm collecting toll at Lekki-Epe expressway toll gate and Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge, which was also burnt down in the aftermath of the shooting.
