President Mohammadu Buhari, will by 7pm on Thursday, address Nigerians in a nationwide broadcast.
According to a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Femi Adesina, the decision of the President follows a detailed briefing by security chiefs on the current situation in the country.
Recall that there has been silence from the president since Nigerians, and mostly the youths took to the streets in protest across different cities in the country, calling on the government to #ENDSARS, Reform the Nigerian Police and to end all forms of brutality on the citizenry.
The silence and failure of the President to address the nation has generated wide condemnations across the country, especially after the shooting of unarmed protesters in Lekki on Tuesday.
But after a meeting with the National Security Adviser as well as all the Heads of Security agencies at the Aso Rock Presidential villa on Thursday, the statement from the Special Adviser to the President enjoined Television, radio and other electronic media outlets to hook up to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and Radio Nigeria respectively for the broadcast.
