MultiChoice, the company that operates DSTV and GoTV, have quashed rumours making the rounds that those two pay television companies have been hacked.
Many Nigerians have come to believe that some persons have hacked both South African television companies, thereby giving them free access to all channels on their respective networks. Some of them posted on social media sites, claiming it was the work of some hackers.
However, MultiChoice said that it had sent their customers text messages telling them that they would be undergoing maintenance between 11PM, 17th and 4PM, 19th October.
According to an anonymous person who works with the company, Switch Nigeria got to understand that the company decided to make all the channels free as all their customer service lines and payment outlets would be offline all through the period of the maintenance.
