The match between the two city of Liverpool clubs in the English Premier League, Everton versus Liverpool, has ended in a frenzy as both teams share the points in an energetic encounter between the rivals at Goodison Park as controversial last minute VAR decision denies Liverpool FC a win after Sadio Mané was adjudged to have been minimally offside when he set up captain Jordan Henderson for the 93rd minute that was eventually disallowed, few minutes after an Everton player was sent off.
In-form Senegal international Mane put the Reds ahead in less than three minutes, but the hosts were level through Michael Keane’s powerful header at the nineteenth minute, just eight minutes after impressive centreback Virgil Van Dijk was replaced by Joe Gomez when he came off worse after a challenge from Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
The visitors still took the lead again in the second half when Mohamed Salah scored his historic 100th Premier League goal for Liverpool FC. A feat he achieved within 159 Premier League matches.
But Everton were spirited, and their highest goal scorer so far this season, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, rose highest to head a cross down and past Adrian in Liverpool goal, to bring the hosts level with only ten minutes left to play.
Carlo Ancelotti, coach of Everton, praised his players for their resilience and character.
Everton have won all their previous four Premier League matches before this one, and would be happy with the draw especially after they went one man down in the 89th minute when Richarlison was given the matching order after a foul on Thiago Alcantara.
