Teenager Dragged Before Abuja Court for Stealing Phone Worth N100, 000

One Joseph Edibo, a teenager, has been arraigned before a Grade 1 Area Court in Abuja for allegedly stealing a phone worth N100, 000.

According to the prosecuting lawyer, Chinedu Agada, the case was reported to the police on the 28th of September by the owner of the phone, Chukwu Samuel.

Mr. Agada said that the teenager carried out the theft on 27th September, together with two other people, who are at large.

The prosecution cited sections 97 and 287 as some of the laws the defendant broke.

However, the boy pleaded not guilty and his lawyer, Taiye Okoya further pleaded with the court to grant his client bail on the most liberal terms, citing Section 162 and 158 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA).

The presiding judge,
Muhammad Adamu granted the defendant bail to the tune of N300, 000 with one surety that resides within the courts jurisdiction.

He adjourned the case till 3rd November for hearing.

The police were able to recover the phone from the boy, it was learned.
