Wike Bans #EndSARS Protests in Rivers State

The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike has placed a ban on the End SARS protests that were scheduled to hold in the State on Tuesday.

The Governor made this known via the Commissioner for Information and Communications, adding that the decision to ban the protests lie in the fact that the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has terminated the operations of the Special Anti-robbery Squad.

The statement reads; “The Rivers State Government hereby wishes to inform the general public that all forms of protests have been banned throughout the State. Therefore, all proposed protests under #EndSARS Campaign are hereby prohibited.”

Today was supposed to be Rivers State’s turn for the protests.

“Government took this decision because the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, had already scrapped the Special Anti-Robbery Squad. Therefore, there is no need for any form of protest against a Unit of the Police Force that no longer exists. The Governor, therefore, calls on parents and guardians to ensure that their children or wards do not violate this order.”
