The Senator representing Imo West Senatorial District and former governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, has said the probe panel set up by the current governor of the state, Hope Uzondimna, to look into the activities of his administration ”is a wide goose chase.”
The senator said, the action taken by the Hope Uzodinma administration can at best be described as ‘a political witch hunt’ of his person.
Okorocha stated this in Bauchi on Saturday, during an interactive session with newsmen.
He urged the governor to make public, the things he feel were questionable about his administration, describing the move by the state government as an act of seeking for relevance.
On the probe, the former governor said, “Let me tell you the issue of the probe is neither here nor there. It is a wide goose chase. It is a political witch-hunt or the government is seeking for relevance by saying that Rochas is being probed, probe of what? I have told them; publish everything let the whole world see and hear where Rochas has been found corrupt.”
According to Okorocha, his achievements in office speaks for itself especially, looking at the infrastructural development he was able to carry out while in office, saying it would be unfair for Uzodinma to accuse his administration of corruption.
“How can corruption take place? Where would you have resources to build an international cargo airport, the best courts, and build the best police headquarters, the best prisons headquarters, six universities, four polytechnics, two colleges of education and yet free education, and over 2,000 projects? And so if you do all this, where will corruption have taken place? So it is not true.”
Speaking on Nigeria’s 60th Independence Anniversary, the Imo Senator said the country is faced with a lot of challenges, saying more efforts must be put in place for Nigeria to become the country we all desire.
