Honourable Francis Okiye, the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly has been impeached.
Reports suggest that the motion for his impeachment was moved by Henry Okhurobo, who is the Majority Leader of the Assembly.
Okiye has been accused of his blatant disregard of laws and his fellow comrades.
The House Member representing Esan West State Constituency, Marcus Onobun was immediately sworn in as his replacement.
Okiye’s impeachment letter was signed by 9 out of 10 members that were present at Monday’s plenary session.
