Students of the Delta State Polytechnic have taken to the streets to protest the institutions decision to levy them N5, 000 for what the authorities have termed ‘COVID-19 fee.’
The students flooded some parts of the State before 7AM on Friday, after which they matched through some major roads and into the institution.
Consequently, there was a heavy traffic jam around Ughelli-Ozoro-Asaba Road.
The school authorities hinted that the fee was to be used to upgrade COVID-19 facilities on campus. However, the students, when interviewed, said no such facilities are in existence.
The students called on the Delta State Governor, Mr. Ifeanyi Okowa to come to their rescue, describing the levy as extortion .
