Lionel Messi has expressed sadness at the manner fellow South American Luis Suarez was “kicked out”, saying that the Uruguay forward deserved better treatment of his exit. Luis Suarez has joined Atletico Madrid and was pictured almost shedding tears as he drove out of the Barcelona training ground after saying his goodbyes to teammates. Messi said via his Instagram account, “I was trying to be calm and considerate but today, I got in the changing room and I couldn’t help but be real. It’s going to be hard to believe that we won’t be sharing our daily lives together again, both on the field of play and off it. We are going to miss a lot of our time together, it’s been many years, many mattes, many meals, many dinners…many unforgettable moments together daily. It’s going to be strange seeing you wearing another club’s jersey, let alone playing against you. You deserved to leave like what you are: one of the most important players in the club’s history, respectfully bid goodbye both as a player and an individual. And not to get kicked out in the way they did. But truth is at this point, I’m not surprised any longer. I wish you all the best in your new challenge. I love you so much. I love you so much.”
Dani Alves responded to Messi’s message: “Unfortunately, this is a fact that arose long ago. To be confirmed year after year. It’s not about winning or losing, we know a lot, it’s about respect and they know nothing about it.” Similarly, Neymar Jr said: “Incredible how they do things.”
United States Men’s National Team defender Sergiño Dest continues to attract keen interest from FC Barcelona and his move from Ajax to the Catalans looks likely in the coming days as he has already agreed personal terms to reunite with Ronald Koeman. FC Bayern Munich are Barcelona’s closest rivals for the right back’s signature.
Atletico Madrid is also set to bring along Lucas Torreira, Suarez’s compatriot, to the capital. Torreira desires to play regular first team matches but his form at Arsenal has been on and off. He will be delighted to link up with the Madrid club. The deal is however being delayed by the Gunners’ insistence on selling him outright, while Atletico Madrid are looking to secure him on loan. And then Arsenal’s interest in Thomas Partey, Atletico’s talismanic midfield pivot, has complicated negotiations. But it is increasingly likely that Arsenal may settle with Atleti on the loan aspect for Torreira.
Arsenal’s pursuit of Thomas Partey seem to have mellowed as his club appears not willing to let him leave. It is understood that the player is interested in joining the North London club, but Gunners are yet to meet his release clause. The Mikel Arteta side have to sell at least two first team players to create space and garner a few million pounds. Shkodran Mustafi, Matteo Guendouzi, and Lucas Torreira are the most likely exits. But as things appear, Arsenal may rather stick with Ainsley Maitland-Niles to do the job, and pursue Aouar.
The club is close to signing Lyon’s young playmaker Houssem Aouar, as the player has agreed to join and Arsenal have made a formal bid in the region of €35 million. Arsenal have also signed their fan from childhood and goalkeeper of Iceland National Team, Runar Alex Runarsson from Dijon in Ligue One.
Everton FC were hopeful of signing Fikayo Tomori from Chelsea FC but the London club are hesitant to let Tomori go and are instead looking to ship out Antonio Ruediger on loan to reduce strain on their wage bills. Hence, the Liverpool side are looking to open talks with Barcelona once again for the services of Jean-Clair Todibo for a possible loan even as Benfica and Napoli also show interest in the defender.
Manchester City Football Club are set to bid for Rubén Dias of Benfica to fortify their defence. The bid is rumoured to be in the region of €55 million, but City are exploring the possibility of adding Nicolas Otamendi as part exchange in the deal, according to sports journalist Fabrizio Romano.
Manchester United FC are still hopeful of convincing Borussia Dortmund to sell their skilful forward Sancho. The English international was Manchester United’s major target of the transfer season and it is believed that the player would consider the challenge to play at a top team in the Premier League. But it appears Dortmund are unwilling to let go of their young talent. However, news have it that United are set to make another bid to convince Dortmund to part with Sancho.
United also hopes to sign Alex Telles from FC Porto of Portugal for the left back position. Deal is expected to cost around €25 million.
Juventus are set to let go of Sami Khedira and Douglas Costa. No official bid for Douglas Costa yet but Khedira is to leave on a free.
There is no truth in the news about Jorginho leaving Chelsea soon. Also, the rumours about Crystal Palace winger Wilfred Zaha leaving may just be mere speculation.
